British Asian Trust

British Asian TrustThe British Asian Trust aims to serve as a catalyst for British Asians to support innovative, inspirational charities within the areas of education, enterprise and health in South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) and the UK. The British Asian Trust is a UK registered charity and the 20th member of The Prince's Charities. The British Asian Trust President is HRH The Prince of Wales, and the Trust is chaired by Manoj Badale, Managing Partner, Blenheim Chalcot with a Board of Directors that includes:

  • Salman Amin, President, PepsiCo UK and Ireland
  • Surinder Arora, Chairman, Arora Hotels
  • Chris Mathias, Partner, CMG Partners
  • Rajan Singh, Executive Vice President, Sony Entertainment Television Asia

The British Asian Trust has now organised two cricket matchs in aid of the Trust. The first was to be a special one-day International cricket match between India and Pakistan in Glasgow in 2007. The Future Friendship Cup, was to be attended by HRH The Prince of Wales, but unfortunately, the Glasgow weather meant that the event was washed out, and a sell-out crowd of 5000 were disappointed.

In July 2009, a ground-breaking Twenty20 match was held at Lord's. The British Asian Challenge pitted the English Twenty20 champions, Middlesex Panthers, against the inaugural IPL champions, the Rajasthan Royals. A crowd of 22,000 enjoyed a storming victory of 42 runs by the Royals, and Shane Warne saying farewell to the ground for the last time as a player.
